The word is out: Fitzgerald Public Schools is growing! Kindergarten enrollment was up by 30 students this year and in planning for the upcoming school year, we anticipate enrollment will increase by 25 additional students in the fall. We have also seen year-upon-year growth in our other elementary grades. This is wonderful news for our district because it means children are thriving and happy here.
As a part of this exciting growth, the board has asked Superintendent Barbara VanSweden to explore options for adding more space for our elementary classes as well as ways we could increase student achievement. After completing thorough research and having many conversations with staff and parents, we recommend re-opening Schofield Elementary and realign our elementary grades by building. These options will allow us to boost academic success and continue to build on the great sense of family we have at Fitzgerald.
On the right you will find more information about the re-opening of Schofield Elementary and the proposed grade re-configuration. If you have any questions or would like to learn more about the proposal, please feel free to contact Barbara VanSweden at (586) 757-1750 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
