Chatterton Middle School (Grades 6-8)

About Us

Chatterton Middle School offers a variety of academic and elective courses that will challenge students to achieve in the classroom and prepare them for the next level at the high school.  The staff of highly qualified teachers is prepared to meet the academic needs of all students. Prior to students reaching the ninth grade, there are opportunities to enroll in honors courses and even Mandarin Chinese. Students can earn high school credit for some classes.  We also offer intervention classes and tutoring for students that need additional academic support.

CMS offers a variety of fall, winter and spring sports for students interested in pursuing athletics.  Our award winning band and choir program consistently earns top ratings in competitions. Chatterton’s National Junior Honor Society, Student Council, Yearbook Club, Art Club, Recycling Club, Jazz Club and Girls on the Run are after school activities scheduled to meet the interests of students.  Students that are interested in travel may travel to China through our district partnership with the Jiading District of Shanghai.

Chatterton Middle School offers a comprehensive academic program aligned with Common Core State Standards that reaches all learners and provides opportunities to meet the interests of all students.  Former CMS students enrolled at Fitzgerald High School have the opportunity to qualify for dual enrollment (earning college credit) as entering 9th grade students via Macomb Early College, the International Academy of Macomb and the Mathematics, Science and Technology Center.
