endofmarch

3/30/12 – As March is Reading Month came to an end, it was time to tally up all of the books that the students have read.  All together the students read over 4500 books, which meant that Mr. Tonn had to sing a Justin Bieber song to the entire student body.   While everyone was waiting for Mr. Tonn to prepare, the students were treated to a fun-filled assembly – Adventures in Reading.  During the zany 40-minute reading safari, Ed Venture helps the students discover that reading leads to many rewards.  Thank you for the awesome performance.

easterbasket

3/29/12 – The Parents of Mound Park (P.O.M.P.) came up with another wonderful basket to raffle off for Easter.   After a couple of weeks of students and parents buying tickets the lucky ticket was picked by our Principal, Mr. Tonn.   The lucky winner was Madison Neff who was ecstatic. Congratulations, Madison you deserve it!

dictionaries

9/26/12 – Today Mound Park 3rd graders were visited by the Rotary Club. The Rotary Club presented each student with a brand new dictionary for their personal use.  Besides the great gift of the dictionaries, they also gave a wonderful presentation on the uses of a dictionary.   We would like to thank the Rotary Club once again for this wonderful gift.

rainforest

2/29/12 – Today our students were treated to a special preview assembly focusing on rainforest life.  The show centered on alligators, monkeys, macaws, snakes, jungle cats, and cockatoos.  All families were invited to an evening presentation at Westview Elementary the same night.  Everyone was very excited to see our very own Mrs. Piscopink and Mrs. Brenda Wiegand holding some of our slithering friends.  It was a really exiciting and educational assembly.

buddyreading

3/2/12 – As we kick off March Reading Month we start with buddy reading.  Mr. Rector’s fifth-grade class went to the library and read to Mrs. Mueller’s second-grade class, Ms. Stone’s fourth-grade class read to Ms. Griggs’ first-grade class and Mrs. Hawe’s fourth-grade class read to Ms. Wallon’s first-grade class.  The younger students were thrilled and excited to have these older students come down to sit and read to them for a while.  It was a wonderful sight to see all of these students get together and read.
