Schofield Early Childhood Center

Fitz Preschool earns 4 star rating!

Great Start to Quality was developed to help Michigan build an efficient and effective early childhood development system.  It is a five star rating system designed to help parents find the best child care and preschool for their child and helps providers improve the care and education they give to children.  Standards set by Great Start to Quality are used to rate preschool and childcare programs to ensure that Michigan’s youngest children have high-quality early learning experiences.

Fitgerald Early Childhood Center received 4 stars – we demonstrate high quality!  We are proud to offer quality preschool to your children.  We invite you to visit our center or call Theresa Swalec, Early Childhood Specialist, to inquire about our FREE preschool for four year olds or preschool for special needs three and four year olds.

Early Childhood Center’s Teacher of the Year – Mrs. Sara Brass

sara brass-tchr of yr

The Early Childhood Center is fortunate to have Mrs. Brass as our Early Childhood Special Education teacher. She has worked with all ages of children, however, preschoolers have a special place in her heart. Each day, her children step down from the bus to smiles. Mrs. Brass greets each by name and comments positively to each student. She believes preschool is the beginning of what can become a successful learning adventure. She is an advocate for all children, seeing the potential in every child.  On behalf of the Early Childhood Center staff – Congratulations Mrs. Brass!

Literacy Day

On October 22nd, the Fitzgerald Early Childhood Center hosted their first “Literacy Day” based on the bestselling children’s book, Brown Bear Brown What Do You See by Eric Carle. Literacy days are designed for the parents to experience their child’s preschool day with them through literacy rich experiences. Each child was also given a Brown Bear Brown Bear book of their own to retell the story to their families at home.

Our preschool families celebrated Halloween at our evening event; Preschool Pumpkinfest. Everyone enjoyed pizza and lemonade and music time with the Merry Music Maker. After dancing and singing, the children went trick or treating through the school hallways. Everyone had a spooktacular time!
