At Schofield Early Childhood Center we strive to create an environment where students and staff value education. We work together for the benefit of our students. Our expectations are clear, both academically and socially, as we prepare students to become self -motivated, independent thinkers and responsible citizens. The Schofield community involves parents, staff and students working together as a team to create a positive climate with a high level of individual achievement.

Preschool Programs

FREE FITZGERALD PRESCHOOL PROGRAMS:

GSRP Preschool:  Great Start Readiness Preschool (GSRP) is the FREE state funded preschool program for four-year-old children who meet the criteria.  GSRP preschool is designed to meet needs based on results compiled from preschool screening, parent interview, and student observation.

The program is designed to promote growth in the areas of language, cognitive, fine and gross motor, self-help skills and social/emotional development.  A unique feature of the program is personalized home visits and group parent meetings.

COST:  Free to 4 year olds who are eligible

ELIGIBILITY:  Any resident who will turn four on or before September 1, 2021 who meets the state eligibility guidelines.  Enrollment is limited to the children determined to be most in need.

DAYS/TIMES:  Monday through Thursday, 8:45 – 11:45 a.m., 12:30 – 3:30 p.m. or full day 8:45 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

ECSE Preschool (Early Childhood Special Education)

This program is designed to meet the needs of a special group of three to five year olds residing in our district.  It provides a variety of developmentally appropriate activities to meet each child’s individual needs.  In addition, support services are provided by both the Fitzgerald and MISD ancillary, and other related service staff.  Transportation is provided.  Students meet Monday – Friday from 8:30 – 11:38 am  or from 12:33 am – 3:41 pm.
