Letters from the Superintendent
April 5, 2025
Dear FPS families, students and staff:
As your School Board president, I am committed to transparency and keeping our school community informed. I wanted to let you know that yesterday we received and accepted the resignation of former Superintendent Hollie Stange. Working with our legal counsel, we entered into a limited severance agreement to allow our school community to move forward. Laurie Fournier will continue to serve as Interim Superintendent, and I’d like to thank Laurie for her continued service. In the days ahead, our plan as a board is to begin discussions about a thorough and transparent search process for our next permanent Superintendent. We will provide additional updates as they become available to share.
Thank you for all you do to make our school community great!
Julia Yokel
School Board President

Dear Fitzgerald Public Schools families,
On Friday, Dec. 27, the school board voted to appoint Laurie Fournier to the role of Interim Superintendent effective immediately while our internal review continues.
As you may know, Laurie served nearly 30 years in Fitzgerald Public Schools as a teacher, school principal and eventually superintendent. She also served as Curriculum Director in our district and has a proven track record of success. We are confident Laurie can hit the ground running and maintain our commitment to excellence and our focus on providing a world-class education.
We sincerely hope you are enjoying a restful and safe holiday season and look forward to seeing our amazing students, staff and families in 2025.
Happy New Year to our entire Fitzgerald Public Schools community.
Sincerely,
Julia Yokel, President
Fitzgerald Public Schools Board of Education
Parent Identification
Fitzgerald Public Schools is committed to the safety and security of our students. We continuously review our protocols and procedures and make adjustments in order to provide our students with a safe educational environment to learn and grow.
The district requires any adult that is picking up a student before dismissal to present photo identification upon arrival. In addition, students will only be released to the contacts that have been identified in our student database system, which is called PowerSchool. It is important that you relay this information to the emergency contacts you have provided to your child’s school. If you would like to update your child’s contacts, please contact the building secretary where your child attends.
We appreciate your continued support and cooperation. The safety and security of our students is a top priority.
