ABOUT THE BOARD
Julia Yokel, President, was appointed to the Board in February 2017. She and her husband have lived in the Fitzgerald district for 11 years and all five of their children are currently attending Fitzgerald schools. She has children in the high school, middle school and elementary schools. She currently holds a Level 2 Award of Merit certification from the Michigan Association of School Boards.
Annie Covert, Vice President, was appointed to the Board in July 2018. She and her husband have lived in the district for 40 years and all three of their children graduated from Fitzgerald. She currently holds a Level 5 Master Diamond Award and Data Skills Specialty certification from the Michigan Association of School Boards.
Judy Furgal, Treasurer, is serving her fourth term on the board. She and her husband, Denis, are Fitzgerald graduates, as are their two children. She chairs the Fitzgerald Foundation for Educational Achievement and holds a seat on the Warren Zoning Board of Appeals. She is an officer in the Macomb County School Board Association and holds a Level 7 President’s Award of Recognition, an Advocacy Skills Speciality Certification, and a Data Specialist Certification from the Michigan Association of School Boards.
Kimberly Lee, Secretary, was appointed in January 2019. She and her family have lived in the Fitzgerald district for 10 years. She has four children, two of which have graduated from Fitzgerald High School with highest honors and two that attend Chatterton Middle School and Mound Park Elementary. She has worked as a lunch monitor for Schofield as well as PTO President. She currently holds a Level 1 Certified Board Member Award from the Michigan Association of School Boards.
Randel Meisner, Trustee, has served on the board since 2012. He has lived in the school district for 36 years. Randel has been deeply involved in the Fitzgerald Wrestling Club, fulfilling several roles during his 18 seasons with the program. He holds a Level 7 President’s Award of Recognition (highest level achievable) as well as Data Specialty and Advocacy Skills Specialty Certifications from the Michigan Association of Schools Boards.
Khaja Shahab Ahmed, Trustee, is a public figure, community activist and businessman. He has been living in the Fitzgerald Public School district for the last 23 years. He is the first diverse South Asian Bangladeshi American elected Board Trustee for the Fitzgerald Board of Education. He currently holds a Level 1 Certified Board Member Award from the Michigan Association of School Boards.
Raymond De’Loatch, Trustee, is a public figure, businessman, and in active duty with the Michigan State Guard (Army). His youngest daughter attends Chatterton Middle School. He has lived in the district since 2020. He is currently enrolled as a student at Macomb Community College in the Homeland Security Program. He is head of security assistance to Macomb County Commissioner, Michelle Nard, in District 12.
